Day at Leisure.
Contemplate Athens’ main attractions under the splendour of morning light. There is nothing more remarkable than a sunrise. Especially in Athens. It is in the morning, when the Greek god Helios drives his Sun Chariot into the sky, it is the part of day which most enhances the beauty of Greece’s landmarks and it is when you take a tour through the city’s incredible history, where you can appreciate today with thanks to its rich architectural legacy. Begin your discovery with a visit to the old plateau of the Acropolis, where the ancient remains of the outstanding Parthenon can be seen standing alongside other manifold symbols of the graceful classical Greek era. Yet Athens’ claim to fame doesn’t lie solely in the past; it often overlaps with the present. You will get to know the colossal Panathenaic, the stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896, built upon the skeleton of an ancient Greek stadium. You will also visit the Greek Parliament in the renowned Syntagma Square and Athens’ vary own Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, solemn and haunting in its silence. You won’t be disappointed at the Arch of Hadrian or the must-see Temple of Olympian Zeus; its ruined columns, once dedicated to the king of Olympus, still reach stoically to the sky, albeit the ruthless pass of time. Other interesting sites are the lush Zappeion gardens, the magnificent Royal Palace and, of course, the famous Academy, named after the Academy founded in the distant past by the philosopher Plato.

With magnificent views of Santorini and a picturesque coastal road leading up to it, Oia is attractive beyond words. After being picked up at your hotel, the tour departs to the traditional village of Oia, on the northern tip of the island, high on the cliff top. See whitewashed buildings and blue domes sparkling in the sunlight with picture postcard views that will live long in your memory. We then visit Fira, the capital of the island. Wander along its cobbled streets, feeling the old-world charm blend with the modern day, and discover interesting jewellers on Gold Street. You’ll then be dropped off at your hotel with your head filled with images of Santorini from the guide books.
Experience the lunar landscapes of the Santorini caldera with a cruise to the four islands. Sail into the heart of the caldera, a result of a catastrophic volcanic eruption that broke one island into four. We begin the cruise at Athinios port and set sail to Nea Kameni, the larger of the two islets in the centre of the caldera. Here you have the thrilling opportunity of hiking to the rim of the crater; dare to walk around the edge whilst taking in the views over the moon-like landscape. We continue to Palia Kameni to bathe in the hot springs created by the volcano’s underwater currents. Set sail to Thirasia for lunch in a small traditional tavern and swim in the crystal clear waters, or even visit Manolas, a cobble-stone hamlet perched high above with spectacular views over the caldera, Santorini and beyond. Our cruise then takes us to the northernmost tip of Santorini to Oia, the jewel of the island. Whitewashed buildings and bright blue domes sparkling in the sunlight form a picture postcard view you won’t forget. You can choose to disembark here or continue the cruise back to Athinios port.
